Fixed Tuition

At Texas Tech University, Fixed Tuition is a tuition option provided to entering undergraduate students in accordance with Texas Education Code §54.017 and the university’s operating policy Texas Tech University Operating Policy 62.20 – Fixed Tuition Price Plan. This plan allows eligible students to lock in their designated tuition rate when they first enroll at the university. Once a student chooses the fixed tuition option, the designated tuition rate per credit hour will not increase for at least 12 consecutive semesters, beginning with the student’s initial enrollment in higher education.

Under Texas Tech’s Operating Policy, the fixed tuition option is offered to incoming undergraduate students, including transfer students who are enrolling at Texas Tech for the first time. Students are usually required to choose whether to participate in the fixed tuition plan when they first enroll at the university. Once selected, the tuition rate remains fixed for the duration of the eligible period unless the student opts out of the plan.

While the tuition rate is fixed, other charges such as mandatory fees or course-related fees may still change over time. These charges are assessed according to university fee schedules and are separate from the designated tuition portion covered by the fixed tuition plan.
