Texas Tech University Yellow Ribbon Program Policy
This policy outlines the eligibility, application process, and requirements for utilizing the Yellow Ribbon Program at Texas Tech University(TTU), aimed at assisting veterans and their dependents with tuition costs exceeding the Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
- Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Program at TTU, applicants must:
- Be eligible for the full Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
- Be enrolled in a degree program at TTU
- Be classified as a non-resident for tuition purposes
- Have tuition and fees that exceed the Post-9/11 GI Bill® coverage
- Tuition Coverage
The Yellow Ribbon Program at TTU provides funding for:
- Non-resident tuition charges that exceed the Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits
Note: In-state tuition and fees do not exceed the state of Texas limit for tuition and fees; therefore, they are not eligible for Yellow Ribbon funding
- Texas Residency Waiver
To assist military-affiliated students, TTU offers a Military Intent to Establish Residency in Texas waiver per Texas Education Code 54.241(k). This waiver allows eligible students to pay in-state tuition rates.
- Eligibility: Veterans, service members, and their dependents who are eligible for VA educational benefits
- Application: Submit the Military Intent to Establish Residency In Texas waiver form each semester
- Deadline: At least 10 days prior to the start of the term
- Renewal: Required each semester
