Athletic Event Access Fee and Red Raider Loyalty Program

What does the Athletic Event Access Fee provide?

The Athletic Event Access Fee provides eligible students with access to Texas Tech home athletic events without purchasing an individual ticket, subject to venue capacity.

For high-demand events, such as football and men's basketball, students may participate in the reservation process.

How does the reservation process work for high-demand events?

For high-demand events, 100% of the available student seating capacity is initially made available through the reservation system.

When requests exceed available student seating capacity:

  1. Eligible students are ranked according to their Red Raider Loyalty Program points.
  2. Students within the capacity cutoff receive an opportunity to claim a reservation.
  3. If students are tied at the capacity cutoff, a random drawing is conducted among the students tied at that point.
  4. Unclaimed opportunities are offered to students through the waitlist.
  5. Remaining or subsequently released opportunities are made available during the open claim period.
  6. Students may release reservations until 24 hours before the event. Released reservations return to the available pool.
  7. If capacity remains 15 minutes before the event begins, students in the standby line may be admitted.

How do Red Raider Loyalty Program points work?

Red Raider Loyalty Program points establish priority for advance reservations at high-demand games.

Initial points are based on historical aggregate attendance patterns by class standing.

Students can earn additional points by attending Texas Tech athletic events, including all TTU sport programs.

Loyalty points determine reservation priority but do not guarantee admission.

At the end of each school year, 50% of the points a student accumulates during that year are retained and carried over in the following year. Incoming freshman will receive a certain number of points that allows them the opportunity to be competitive within the reservation period.

Why do students have different starting point totals?

Initial point totals are based on historical aggregate attendance patterns by class standing and provide new, incoming students with a base level of points to ensure they are not inadvertently penalized.

What happens if a student does not receive an initial reservation opportunity?

Additional opportunities may become available through the waitlist or open claim period.

If capacity remains 15 minutes before the event begins, students in the standby line may be admitted.

What happens when students are tied at the reservation cutoff?

A random drawing is conducted among students tied at the capacity cutoff.

What happens to a reservation that a student releases?

Students may release reservations until 24 hours before the event. Released reservations return to the available pool.

Does the reservation system reduce student seating capacity?

No. The reservation system does not reduce the number of student seats available. It changes how available seating is allocated for high-demand events when requests exceed capacity.

Has the admission process changed for other athletic events?

The admissions process has not changed for events that are not expected to reach maximum student seating capacity, including baseball, softball, women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, and other ticketed sports.
